With fifteen years of metalsmithing experience, Matt Craven is fueled by his interest in hand-forged sculpture.  He uses blacksmithing and welding to create artwork as well as architectural and interior accents for a variety of gallery, residential, educational, and corporate spaces.  Matt’s media includes steel, copper, brass, stainless steel, wood, reclaimed materials and found objects.

Born and raised in Colorado, Matt has spent much of his time outdoors fly fishing, snow boarding, hiking, and exploring.  These adventures are the driving force behind his creations, and can be identified in their organic themes.  Matt is captivated by the rawness of metal.  Much like the knack he has developed for adapting with the unpredictability of nature, he has also gained a respect for the volatility of metal and enjoys the fact that he must work with the material to achieve the desired form.

Matt’s sculptures have been exhibited in Colorado and New York and are included in private collections throughout the United States.  He has completed several custom structural pieces such as staircases, railings, metal furniture, countertops, gates, moldings and shelving for homes and businesses across the country.  Matt studied metalsmithing at Colorado State University and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.  He is a member of North Eastern Blacksmithing Association (NEBA) and the Artist Blacksmith's Association of North America (ABANA).
